Mrs. Miller's Apprentice

New Block of the Month!

Mrs. Miller’s Apprentice
2019–2020 Block of the Month

3rd Saturdays of Each Month ● Starts May 18, 2019

by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts, featuring Marcus Fabrics®

Journey to the mid-19th century and read Mrs. Miller’s diary, as she tells the story of meeting young Ellie who just moved into the neighboring farm with her widower father. When Ellie shows interest in learning to piece quilt blocks, Mrs. Miller takes Ellie under her wing, and not only teaches her to piece, but helps her learn many other housekeeping skills she will need to know.

Every month, you’ll join them in creating a beautiful variety of sampler blocks and read diary entries telling the story of their growing friendship.

Indigo blue and light quilts were so very popular in the 19th century and are still a classic today! The quilt features several gorgeous Indigo blue prints, as well as many other shades of blue, and a blend of lovely light prints that make the sampler blocks sparkle! It’s sure to be a treasured quilt in your collection.

This 12-month program begins Saturday, May 18, 2019 and includes monthly patterns, a 4 ½” Easy Angle Ruler, and all the fabric to complete the 77” x 89” pieced top. Directions are also included for completing the Storyteller Bonus Quilt (24” x 24”) using fabric leftover from the Mrs. Miller’s Apprentice quilt.

Aunt Grace Baskets of Scraps Block of the Month

Current Block of the Month Program!

Through the years, the Aunt Grace fabric collections from Marcus Fabrics have reliably become our favorite window to the early twentieth century. Fabric designer Judie Rothermel has yet again gone through her treasure trove of collected scraps to assemble something new from something old, fittingly named Aunt Grace Baskets of Scraps.

All of the blocks in this book are familiar, tried-and-true classics, but they have been finished with original elements and techniques that we know you will enjoy! The patchwork border was selected as the perfect illustration of how our smallest pieces, our "basket of scraps", can combine to form one of our favorite elements of this quilt.

Click here to download the Registration Form. You may return your completed Registration Form by email, snail mail, or hand delivering it to YVQ. If you choose to submit it by email or snail mail, we will call you  to get your credit card information.

Payment of your $25 Registration Fee and receipt of your completed Registration Form hold your place in our Aunt Grace Baskets of Scraps Block of the Month Program.

At the conclusion of this nine month program, you will receive $25 in Quilty Cash to be used in the shop on your next visit.

We look forward to working through Aunt Grace's scrap basket with you to complete this gorgeous quilt that is certain to be a family treasure.

Space is limited! Click here to register today!
