Learn to Paper Piece



You've quilted a little — or a lot — and now you want to learn the fine art of Paper Piecing.

This introductory class to paper piecing teaches you basic paper piecing skills while making one 12” star block.


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Beginner Paper Piecer with knowledge of basic quilting techniques
Materials Included: Includes all materials needed.
Requirements: You will need the following for the class: Sewing machine with 1/4 inch foot and open toe foot in good working order (it is a good idea to try your machine prior to class to ensure that it is working properly) Steam iron (small size without steam is optional) Ironing board (small pad) Cutting board (small or medium size) Rotary Cutter (45 mm recommended; new blade strongly recommended); also “old” rotary cutter for cutting paper seam ripper / scalpel Add-a-Quarter Ruler Plus (12" recommended; 6" is optional) or 1 inch by 6 inch Creative Grids ruler 3 1/2 inch x 12 1/2 inch Creative Grids ruler Sewline glue stick (optional) Flower Pins (optional) small glass head pins (optional) Purple Thang (optional) Size 14 needle (size 12 optional) Good high-quality cotton sewing thread (50 wt recommended; 40 wt will work -- if possible, red or green in color) Bring the items you currently have — you will have an opportunity to try different products and purchase during class if needed.
