Charming Bag

Charming Bag is a medium sized bag that goes together quickly.  It is designed to use charm squares or 2 ½ inch strips and bag is very adaptable to any season or degree of sophistication by choice of color or type of fabrics.  Finished size is approximately 10” by 13”.  It has optional interior pockets and can be further personalized by using a variety of closures, strap lengths or quilting  techniques.

Requirements: Basic quilting supplies Sewing Machine in good working order Even-feed/walking foot 1/4" foot Size 90/14 sewing machine needle Non-stick pressing sheet or pressing cloth (optional) Iron & Ironing mat (optional) Rotary cutter with new blade Cutting mat 12 coordinating charm squares or 4 2 1/2" strips 1/2 yard of contrast for bottom and handles 1/2 yard for lining and pockets 1/2 yard of lightweight fusible (20" wide) 1 yard of fusible fleece or batting or 1/2 yard foam Optional: Large button or magnetic closure
Instructor: Lorene Fleming
Instructor Bio: Surry County native, Lorene McCann Fleming, started making doll clothes with a needle and thread around 4-5 years old. She started making clothes on her mother's treadle sewing machine at 9-10 years old. As a senior in high school, Lorene even made bridesmaid dresses for her and her sister for a cousin's wedding. Lorene is a retired home economics teacher and has been quilting for 17 years. She has taught several beginning quilting classes and enjoys planning and hosting quilt retreats. While she enjoys making quilts, Lorene often prefers to make bags, wall hangings, and other small projects.
