It’s Almost Retreat Time!

We are excited to have you join us for Quilty Pleasures at Quiltville Inn 2021 Session 1! Our goal is for you to spend your special getaway time relaxing and refreshing and creating projects that warm your heart and bring you joy!

In Session 1, our focus is Quick Projects Ideal for Gifting or Quick Fiber Therapy Fixes. We welcome your participation in any of the optional activities we have planned, or spend your time working on projects on your “Get ‘R Done!” list.

Arrival

The address for Quiltville Inn is 12615 Wilson Hwy, Mouth of Wilson, VA 24363. You will want to program the address into your GPS before you depart from home. Also, make sure your Wi-Fi calling is enabled while you are still connected to your home network. Once you get into the mountains, your ability to adjust these settings may be spotty.

Check in begins at 10 am on Monday, April 5. We will be available to assist you with unloading through the back porch. Bonnie asks that we use one of the wagons provided to transfer your items from your car to the porch – including rolling luggage.

Lunch is at noon, followed by a time of introductions and retreat information. We strongly encourage you to be checked in prior to lunch – this “Get to Know You” time is the foundation of our time together and something you really do not want to miss!

Retreat Activities

Yadkin Valley Quilts is proud to be an authorized Creative Grids retail shop. We specialize in educating our quilters in the use of a number of the Creative Grids rulers and tools available. We will be sharing our love for Creative Grids throughout the retreat, starting with some of our favorites – Stripology and other basic rulers. You are encouraged to bring your favorite Creative Grids tools with you! If there is a specific tool you are looking to add to your toolbox, just let us know!

The following optional projects are on the agenda:

  • Quarter Trip Quilt made using a tube piecing method (click here for Supply List)
  • Turning 20 Quilt (click here for Supply List)
  • String Piecing (a selection of strings and foundation will be provided; you are welcome to bring your own strings/scraps as well)
  • Rail Fence (click here for Supply List)

YVQ Retreat Shop

Yadkin Valley Quilts in Elkin will be CLOSED April 2-19. We will have a small shop set up at the retreat, including notions, patterns, Creative Grids rulers/tools, precuts, and kits. You may preorder in-stock items online, and we will deliver to you at the retreat. If you are in need of items that are out of stock online, please give us a call (336-258-8383)! We are happy to special order items for you! Orders must be received by noon March 22 for arrival at YVQ before we close for the retreat.

What to Bring

Bonnie has created a comprehensive welcome packet that includes all the specifics about the Inn, retreat policies and amenities. Click here to download her handy packet.

Temperatures in Mouth of Wilson can range from 30-75˙F during April. You will want to bring clothing that you can layer to adapt to the variable temperatures. Additionally, you might want to bring your own quilt for your bed. Bonnie provides bed linens that include sheets, pillows, blanket, and a coverlet; however, you might want the additional warmth your quilt will provide.

Click here for a What to Bring checklist to aid in your packing and planning.

There will be opportunities for Show & Tell during the retreat. Please bring and be prepared to share your favorite and most unusual tools, as well as 2-3 of your favorite quilts/projects – recent finishes, Bonnie Quilts, etc.

Do you have excess quilty items that you would like to find a new home for? There will be a Take One/Leave One table at the retreat for just this purpose! For every item you leave, you may take an item from the table.

Just a reminder – all meals and a variety of snacks are provided by Yadkin Valley Quilts during your stay at Quiltville Inn. We will have a variety of coffee pods, tea bags, hot cocoa and hot apple cider, as well as iced tea. You are welcome to bring additional beverages and snacks to enjoy during your stay. We encourage you to bring a personal sports bottle and/or travel mug (with lid) for use throughout your stay. Please respond to this email with any food allergies or dietary concerns that we need to be aware of. We will do our best to accommodate special needs.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at 336-258-8383.

We look forward to having you with us at Quiltville Inn!
