YVQ Block of the Month FAQ & Guidelines

Welcome to Yadkin Valley Quilts Block of the Month Programs!

We love Block of the Month (BOM) programs!

What is a Block of the Month

BOMs are a budget-friendly way to purchase the materials for a quilt using equal monthly payments. Your "Quilty Care Package" is available monthly – sort of like having Christmas every month! Each month’s kit breaks the complete quilt down into easily-manageable sections so that you don’t get overwhelmed. Not to mention, participants who opt to utilize our open sew times have the opportunity to meet and socialize with fellow participants.

Our goal is to offer BOMs throughout the year that provide you with the opportunity to experiment with a variety of techniques and styles of fabric. This may include traditional piecing, appliqué, and paper piecing using solids, reproductions, or modern fabrics.

Reasons to Participate

Why should you participate in a BOM from Yadkin Valley Quilts?

Bring on the Fun!

We do the hard part, and leave the fun for you! We work closely with our vendors to find and select beautiful programs, order the patterns, tools, and all the fabric necessary to complete the program, and offer them in monthly kits for easy use. We do all the legwork and ultimately save you time and money. In the event that a fabric chosen for the program becomes unavailable, we will select an alternate that matches the original as closely as possible.

Support

We “know” our programs and are available to assist you should you have any issue. Just stop in, give us a call, or email us and we will work with you to find a solution.

Each month, we offer several open sew times when you may bring your project into the shop and sew with others. We are also available on an as-needed basis to help walk you through any issues that may arise.

Minimal Monthly Investment

Once your Registration Fee is paid, you pay a fixed monthly payment for the program, allowing you to purchase all the materials necessary to complete your quilt top without a large cost up front.

Flex S & S

We offer flexible start dates and shipping options! Unable to start when the program is set to start? Give us a call! We will gladly set up a start date to accommodate your needs. Looking to have kits shipped, but want to avoid monthly shipping charges? Select "pick up in store" as your delivery method, then note on the order your preferred shipping frequency. We will hold kits and ship multiples for one shipping fee (based on actual charge by the post office).

Who Can Participate?

Our BOM programs are open to quilters residing in the United States. Local participants are considered our “in-studio” participants. Our “out of-area” participants are individuals who register for our BOM programs and elect to have their kits shipped to them. At this time, we are unable to accommodate International participants.

Program Fees

Registration Fee
Each program has a non-refundable Registration Fee, then a fixed-rate monthly payment for the duration of the program. The payment of your Registration Fee, plus the completion of the online registration, confirms your commitment for the duration of the program, as well as helps us to cover the initial costs of the patterns and fabrics needed. It also allows us to offer you the project at a reasonable monthly fee, without a large lump-sum charge at the end of the program for borders, binding, etc.

Monthly Fee
Every 30 days your credit card on file will be charged a fixed monthly fee (plus applicable sales tax and shipping) for the duration of the program. Kits will be available for in-studio pick up the 3rd Saturday of each month.

Shipping
Out-of-area participants will be charged $15 per month (plus applicable sales tax) in addition to the monthly program fee. Out-of-area kits will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail (signature required) the Monday following the 3rd Saturday of the month. Out-of-area participants may elect to have monthly kits held and shipped 2 or more months at a time. To do so, select "pick up in store" as the delivery method, and make note in the initial order how often you would like us to ship. Your card will be charged for postal fees at the time of shipping.

Credit Card
We require a valid credit card number to be on file for each BOM participant. Monthly fees will automatically be billed to the credit or debit card provided every 30 days. In the event that we are not able to charge your card, your kit will be held until payment is completed. Please contact us with updated information if you receive a new card or the expiration date changes to avoid delays in receiving your kit.

YVQ BOM Guidelines

When you register for our BOM programs, it is understood that you are registering for the entire program. We will abide by this policy and prepare a kit for you each month with the understanding that you will remain in the program for the duration.

Cancellations
We understand that sometimes “life” happens! Should something happen that results in you needing to cancel the program, please let us know right away! If you must cancel prior to the conclusion of the program, the Registration Fee is not refundable.

Sometimes we provide complete products (patterns, tools, background, etc.) on our BOM programs during the first month. This is for your convenience and to protect against possible dye lot changes in the fabrics. In these cases, cancellations made by the customer will result in a fee for the full amount of the items (pattern, fabric, tools, etc.) received at the time of cancellation being charged to the credit card on file.

Mistakes?
Never fear! If you make a mistake on a particular piece of fabric, you may call and request a replacement. After fulfilling our kit requirements, we reserve any remaining fabric for the duration of the program for just this purpose. Give us a call and we will work with you to resolve the issue.

Limits & Cancellations

Participant Limits
Most of our BOM programs require an order commitment months prior to the start of the program. We guestimate as best we can the number of participants who might be interested in registering for a program. Therefore, we must limit the number of spots available in the program. Should we have a greater number of participants interested than we initially committed for, we will offer the option of being placed on a waiting list. In the event that we are able to secure sufficient materials to accommodate those on the waiting list, we will add those individuals to the program.

Program Cancellations
In the event that there is not enough response to a program, we will cancel it and notify you. You will be given the option of applying your paid Registration Fee as a store credit or as Registration for another program.
